Green Infrastructure Champions Workshop June 25, 2019

Green Infrastructure Champions Workshop

Theme: Green Infrastructure Asset Management

Studies have shown that Natural features, or Natural Assets, provide a suite of benefits including recreation, health and well-being, stormwater management, carbon sequestration, air quality regulation, water supply, habitat restoration, etc. These natural features fall under municipal jurisdiction and need a way to be accounted for in Asset Management Planning.

The Green Infrastructure Champions Program, in partnership with Asset Management Ontario (AMONTario) and the Town of Caledon, is hosting a one-day workshop for Ontario municipalities to explore the following objectives:

  • Learn from local experts experienced in Green Infrastructure (Natural Asset) Asset Management Planning, Monitoring and Valuation.
  • Learn how green infrastructure (GI) and natural asset management practices support stormwater risk reduction and resiliency effort
  • Learn about the Green Infrastructure Champions Program and opportunities to receive technical assistance through mentoring network and mini-grant program.

Registration is free for municipal employees, made possible by the generous support of the Erb Family Foundation and Great Lakes Commission. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided as part of the workshop.

Asset Management Ontario (AMONTario) invites you to a two day municipal asset management workshop on December 5th and 6th, 2018 in North Bay.

Through the generous support of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), the Government of Canada, and the Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI), this training and workshop is free for municipal employees.

We strongly encourage attendees to come for both days, but it’s possible to attend for just one. We also encourage municipal attendees from a range of backgrounds, such as finance, planning, public works, and administration. Municipalities are allowed to bring a team of employees (can be from different divisions) as this reflects the collaborative and inter-disciplinary nature of asset management work.

The first day (December 5th) will focus on asset management awareness building of leading practices. The second day (December 6th) will involve a hands-on seminar for municipalities. Depending on participants’ needs, this could involve working on a Strategic Asset Management Policy or some other project that advances your municipality along the asset management continuum.
